Cheerful and highly dedicated, Tsurara can be quite overprotective of Nura Rikuo especially when he is in his “day” form. She works hard trying not to be a burden to him and has stated that she will protect him for all of eternity. This is because Rikuo was the one with whom she exchanged sakazuki with.

Kannazuki no Miko: Kurusugawa Himeko and Himemiya Chikane
The reincarnations of the Solar and Luna Miko respectively, Kurusugawa Himeko and Himemiya Chikane were two, normal high school girls of Mahoroba’s prestigious Ototachibana Academy until an ancient evil, the eight Orochi, arose once more. It was on the first day of October, which was also both Himeko’s and Chikane’s birthday, when the Orochi had awaken. That day is also known as the Kannazuki, literally “the goddess month”, in the traditional Japanese lunisolar calendar.
This is pretty spectacular! Both girls look the part, and the photo has a dreamy effect to it! Thanks again to Lily for sending this in!

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII: Genesis Rhapsodos
A 1st-class SOLDIER who rebelled against Shinra, Genesis Rhapsodos went AWOL hoping to find a cure for his illness, degradation. He is an end result of Project G, an experiment involving a woman named Gillian was injected with Jenova cells before her cells were harvested and injected into Genesis when he was still a fetus. Genesis is considered a traitor to Shinra, but he is a close friend of Angeal Hewly’s as well as Sephiroth’s.
Although the contrast is pretty high on this photo, I liked the sinister effect that it gives to the cosplayer. Thanks again to Julia for sending this in!

Fushigi Yuugi: Nuriko
First appearing to be “Korin” from Hotohori’s harem, Nuriko is one of the seven Suzaku warriors and he is, in fact, a man. Korin was the name of his younger sister who died at a young age, and Nuriko began dressing like her to keep her memory alive. He later comes to terms with the fact that his cross-dressing resulted from the unyielding pain of the loss of his sister, and that he had been trying to live his life the way Korin would have, not as he would have.
I think this may be Saya, but I’m not completely sure. Can anyone verify this for me? Thanks to Sammy for sending this in!

Uta no Prince-sama: Nanami Haruka 02
Despite having dizzy spells from the city’s “noise”, Nanami Haruka enrolled in the prestigious Saotome Academy in the hopes of becoming a composer for her idol, Hayato. Prior to her enrollment, she had no experience in reading sheet music, but she is able to play the piano very well as taught by her grandmother. Haruka proves to be a very talented as the series progresses, even learning how to read sheet music after studying for only one day.
Such a cute Haruka by cosplayer Yuu! I really like this summer uniform better than the regular one for the girls. Thanks to Misakichan for sending this in!

Not only is this character unfamiliar to me, but I can’t even tell if the character is a boy or a girl! But I’m pretty sure the cosplayer is a girl though? If not a very handsome young man!

Surprisingly, Red Isn’t The Most Dangerous Color You Can Wear Aboard The Starship Enterprise
Hmm, doesn’t seem to be any aliens or temporal anomalies around. Sooo, should we start killing each other?
Even those who haven’t watched much (or any) Star Trek know red is the most deadly color you can wear in the 23rd century. The nameless, disposable, very easily killed security/engineering guys all wore red shirts in The Original Series, which led to “redshirt” becoming a widely used term for any character who’s obviously about to bite it.
But is being a redshirt really all that bad? Recently somebody actually sat down and crunched the numbers and the results are surprising…
It turns out the most dangerous color to wear on the Enterprise is actually gold.
Matthew Barsalou of Significance Magazine counted up all the on-screen deaths during Star Trek’s original three seasons. There were 24 redshirt deaths, 9 goldshirt deaths and 7 blueshirt deaths.
Ah, so red = dead after all! Not so fast — according to blueprints officially endorsed by Paramount, the Enterprise has a crew of 430. 239 are redshirts, 136 are blueshirts and 55 are goldshirts. In other words, the show depicts are a lot of guys in red dying, but there were more guys in red to begin with.
All in all, 5.1% of the Enterprise’s blueshirts, 10% of its redshirts and a whopping 13.4% of its goldshirts died over the course of The Original Series’ 79-episodes. So there you have it, wearing gold on the Enterprise is slightly more dangerous than red, although honestly, the ship’s casualty rates are pretty bad no matter what color you’re wearing.

Portlandia Visits a Steampunk Convention [Video]
In a hotel in anywhere USA – or in Portland – a group of steampunk enthusiasts gather to dress up, play with rayguns, and go on a mission to rescue one of their own. Yes, in the following clip, the cast of Portlandia goes to a steampunk convention and goes LARP’ing. It pokes fun at the genre but also hits some true and hilarious notes.
I especially love the guy who won’t stop firing his blaster and making noise. We all know a couple of those.

Matheson And MGM To Update ‘Incredible Shrinking Man’ For Today’s Audiences
Author and sci-fi legend Richard Matheson (Duel, I Am Legend) is planning a 21st century, post-Cold War remake of the cult classic film The Incredible Shrinking Man, which was based on his novel.
The 87 year old Matheson will be assisted by his son: Richard Matheson, Jr., and will be developing the film for MGM, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Matheson considers this iteration of his story “an existential action movie.” (whatever that means). Though the issues which inspired the original story are no longer relevant (and the protagonist no longer shrinks due to radiation exposure), Matheson believes that the essential themes behind his updated version still resonate in the modern world…perhaps even more so now:
“My original story was a metaphor for how man’s place in the world was diminishing. That still holds today, where all these advancements that are going to save us will be our undoing.”
Universal, who made the original Incredible Shrinking Man, apparently spent years trying to get a remake off the ground, but was unable to do so before the rights to the story lapsed….We’ll just have to wait and see if MGM has better luck.

Megan Marie is perhaps the best known cosplayer around. She’s been part of the gaming community for a fair while which has meant she’s had enough time to do some awesome cosplay work and build quite a following. Here’s what I think are her top ten cosplay moments.
This is one of my favourites that Megan has done, Anya Stroud from Gears of War – she managed to get some photos taken on an actual military vessel! That’s pretty cool. Also check out that Lancer, it looks pretty close to the real deal.

New 2013 JUSTICE LEAGUE Can-tivities Collectible Treat Tins by FUNKO
The recent 2013 TOY FAIR just keeps popping-up a lot of fun cool surprises! Here’s a great example, the Toy Company FUNKO has plans to bring out a bunch of new Batman Toys, Figures, Wacky Wobblers, etc… for 2013 and now we get some pics of a whole new product called “Can-tivities”.
Basically, they’re small tin tubes in the shape of cartoon characters that you can store fun stuff in. Here are some prototype pics of their JUSTICE LEAGUE SET they have plans to release later ( no exact date known right now ).
The Company is being super hush-hush about it but we did get news that their IRONMAN 3 MOVIE Tins will be released in March and they have also shown us what comes inside those tins, sort of a “school supply” kind of thing ( see pic down below ). The JLA ones say they are more of a “treat thing” so maybe they’ll be candy. Hmm, stay tuned to the Bat-Blog and once we know more, you know more.
Bryan Singer Reveals Dual Professor X Wheelchair Pic
I may be one of a minority, but I firmly hold to the belief that X-Men: First Class was a great spin on my favorite comic book franchise. And I, along with the dozen or so other people out there that agree with me, have been keeping a close eye on the developments of the sequel, Days of Future Past. Now, we here at the big NB have a wee update from the front line, courtesy of Bryan Singer’s Tweeter account.
It may not be much in the way of news, but it is a pretty picture feature the wheelchairs that will be used by both Professor X the Elder and Professor X the Younger. Check em out:

Kathleen Kennedy Says Bye-Bye to ‘Jurassic Park IV’
Kathleen Kennedy is a woman that has the weight of the world upon her shoulders. Or, perhaps more appropriately, she has the weight of a thousand star systems on her shoulders, backed with the potential wrath of an army of fans. So now that she’s gearing up to make sure Star Wars Episode VII goes smoothly, she’s decided to say goodbye to her producing duties on Jurassic Park IV.
According to Kennedy’s husband, Frank Marshall:
No, Ms. Kennedy has moved onto Star Wars and will not be producing JP4. She’s traded raptors for TIE fighters.
It doesn’t come as much of a surprise, considering how much needs to get done what with all the spin-offs that Lucasfilm appears to be planning. But never fear, her production role will be changing hands to those of Marshall. Steven Spielberg will, of course, also be involved in an executive producer role. So rampaging dinosaur fans need not panic.
Look for Jurassic Park IV to hit theaters on June 13th, 2014.

Paul McCartney Lays Smack Down On His Grandkids For Beating Him At ‘Beatles: Rock Band’
Paul McCartney recently spoke to the New York Times about winning his 479th (or something) Grammy, where he keeps all the industry hardware, and his new album (“I’m actually working with George Martin’s son, Giles”), but the key Q&A came near the end of the interview, when the subject of Beatles: Rock Band came up.
Well, you’ve got my number now. Feel free to give me a ring if you’d ever like to jam in New York.

I play the plastic guitar in Rock Band.

Khal Drogo May Fight Alongside Andy Dwyer In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’
At least four actors have reportedly tested for the role of Drax the Destroyer in Guardians Of The Galaxy: Isiah Mustafa, Dave Bautista, Brian Patrick, and Jason Momoa. Latino Review claims Jason Momoa’s screen test “went so good [sic] that Marvel offered him the part and his reps have now countered, so the negotiations are ongoing.”
A writer for The Hollywood Reporter tweeted a contradictory statement that Jason Momoa had tested for the part but hadn’t been offered the role yet. Then the Latino Review writer countered that Marvel had offered the role, but Momoa’s negotiating for more money. Then they both wrote catty things about each other in their burn books, we imagine. GRRR, BLOGGING.
