CRIKEY! It’s ‘Star Wars’ as an Australian Beer Commercial
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…
Ok, that is a bit of an exaggeration since they started work on this fan film a short ten years ago and Australian really isn’t THAT far away in galactic terms. Australian Star Wars geeks/beer enthusiasts Michael Cox and Bryan Meakin set out to answer a question that has lingered in the hearts of fans everywhere. “What would happen if you crossed Star Wars with an Australian beer commercial” – What you get (apparently) is Star Wars Downunder, an epic tale of the good, the bad and the thirsty.
The 30 minute fan film is expected out ‘soon,’ packed with some decent CGI/special effects and honestly one of the most unique takes on the Star Wars franchise you’ll ever see. You can check out the trailer and official poster below.

By the looks of it, Star Wars Downunder should be a fun and uniquely Aussie half-hour. The Ned Kelly inspired stormtroopers with the lightsaber boomerangs are a nice touch. My one hope is that when the hero (Merve Bushwacker) meets the villain (Darth Drongo) in the final duel one of them says ‘That’s not ah loightsabah! THIS is ah loightsabah!‘
