Batman Parody Cover For Punk Underground Comic Book Inspired by Ed “Big Daddy” Roth
I know that some readers of this blog might not know who Ed “Big Daddy” Roth is. He was a famous hot rod car model guy / customizer / graphic artist. He created a character called “Rat Fink” who is an icon for hot rod enthusiasts all over the world. He has a very distinct art style & many people love his work. One such person, who was totally inspired by him, is our friend Devlin. Devlin manages a cool retro-toys comic book shop in Athens, GA called “Bizarro-Wuxtry”. I have never been there but have seen a lot of pictures of the place…it’s awesome! Well, Devlin drew the cover for an underground comic book titled BAD TRIP #4, which came out in 1994. Looking at it you can totally see the “Big Daddy” influence & Devlin’s artwork is incredible!! Just click on it for a larger version, it’s GREAT! I wanna thank Devlin for sending this in to us. HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Batman and Robin Scarecrow!
OK, It seems that this year everybody is going totally wacky over Halloween! Here at the Bat-Blog we have been getting a lot of photos, both new & vintage, where people have been showing us their Batman-related costumes. That has been really wonderful ( thanks again everybody & keep them coming ). Also, since the actual holiday is getting closer, we are starting to get pictures of Batman Jack O’ Lantern Pumpkins, that’s great too! But THIS photo was really kind of a surprise. A good friend to the Bat-Blog, nicknamed “BatmiteReturns”, send us this funny photo of a set of Batman & Robin Scarecrows he recently saw. He wrote,
My family and I went to a pumpkin patch over the weekend and inside was a real life Batman & Robin scarecrow. I’ve never seen anything like it before. Of course I had to snap a picture of it!
Later he added how shocked he was to see it at such an unusual place & he made the observation that there was sort of a big irony here because “The Scarecrow persona” is also an evil villain in the Batman Universe. I thought the same thing, ha ha! But I wanna thank him for sending the photo, it’s great! I think they actually did a pretty good job on it. For everybody else, if you have ANY Batman Halloween pictures to share then please do. Let’s make this year’s holiday a total event!

HA HA HA HA HA! The 1st photo is one I randomly found on the Internet. It’s of a mother who dressed-up like the Joker to take her small son out for his birthday. It looks like they are using public transportation. He’s wearing a kid’s costume of our favorite Caped Crusader, BATMAN! I thought it was kinda sweet that a Mother would do that. Speaking of buses. The next image is a funny new Humor T-Shirt featuring Batman, in Gotham City, using a bus to get around. Maybe his Batmobile was in the garage? ( Yes, we’ll be here all week folks, har har! ) The next pic is the best one, so that’s why I saved it for last! Remember our “Draw Batman’s Face” Art Challenge? Well, this one was sent in recently by our friend Aaron. He made Pokemon into the Dark Knight and it’s awesome!! Seriously, I cracked-up when I first saw it, totally unexpected! Hey Everybody, It’s 2011… Happy New Year!
If I make it to an extremely old age I’m going to look back on the year 2010 as the worst year of my life. That says a lot because I can look at different moments & know they were pretty bad too. So, for 2011 I’m trying to be more positive and, for now anyway, I’m going to take the gun out of my mouth & try to have a better outlook for the new year. When I woke-up this morning I was in a very rare mood where I didn’t quite know what to post. So I decided to share some funny BATMAN AND ROBIN comic strips & humor photos. For a magazine that’s known as “extremely serious” this Fic15 is very tongue in cheek and just a lot of fun! It usually includes people like Uncle Scrooge, Jed Clampett, Richie Rich, Mr. Monopoly, Tony Stark ( Iron Man ), Montgomery Burns ( The Simpsons ), etc… Well, Bruce Wayne ( The Dark Knight ) was # 8 on the list, ha!
