The title of the book will be “The Art of Tim Burton” & will be made in both hardcover & deluxe edition. When you go there you can preview a few pictures. Batman Parody Cover For Punk Underground Comic Book Inspired by Ed “Big Daddy” Roth

I know that some readers of this blog might not know who Ed “Big Daddy” Roth is. He was a famous hot rod car model guy / customizer / graphic artist. He created a character called “Rat Fink” who is an icon for hot rod enthusiasts all over the world. He has a very distinct art style & many people love his work. One such person, who was totally inspired by him, is our friend Devlin. Devlin manages a cool retro-toys comic book shop in Athens, GA called “Bizarro-Wuxtry”. I have never been there but have seen a lot of pictures of the place…it’s awesome! Well, Devlin drew the cover for an underground comic book titled BAD TRIP #4, which came out in 1994. Looking at it you can totally see the “Big Daddy” influence & Devlin’s artwork is incredible!! Just click on it for a larger version, it’s GREAT! I wanna thank Devlin for sending this in to us. You ROCK, Sir!

THE JOKER WALLPAPER Artwork By Gerry Cleary

I recently met a Graphic Artist named Gerry Cleary. The cool thing is that he is a HUGE Batman Fan & sent me this amazing artwork he did of the Joker. Of course it’s the “Heath Ledger version” of the character from “The Dark Knight” movie. I knew I had to share it here & since the graphic was so large I thought I would make it a Batman Desktop Wallpaper. It has a cartoon style but is also very detailed. Look at the Joker Playing Cards, they’re cool. The pattern on Joker’s shirt is exactly like the one worn by Heath in the movie, a nice detail. The 1st picture shown here is the Desktop Wallpaper I made & the 2nd photo is Gerry’s original graphic. As you can see this guy has a lot of talent. If you’re interested in seeing more of his graphic work then be sure to click HERE!

BATMAN ODYSSEY: Some Sample Artwork & a CGI Test Using Neal Adams Art

Up above is a sample of some of the comic book art for the future BATMAN ODYSSEY Graphic Novel that will be done by none other than the Master himself, Neal Adams! The art shows what Aquaman will look like & it looks pretty cool! Plus, speaking of “cool”, be sure to follow our link for a video featured on Adams’ website where we get to see a BATMAN ODYSSEY Promo Video his company made. It’s a very small clip but gives you an idea…Hey, Just Click HERE!

1966 BATMAN FINE ART PRINTS From 3-D Monster!

Shown up above are some crazy-groovy art prints made by a Graphic Designer named Dan Bru. He really loves unusual pieces of pop culture from the 1960’s & 70’s especially Old Toys, Horror Movies, Vintage TV Shows, Tin Robots, etc…just about anything “retro”. So you know he has to do a few pieces of art that are about the 1966 Batman TV Show! Let’s take a look at them. The 1st one is kinda weird, but in a good way. It’s a parody of the graphics from an old Vintage Poster for the ’66 Batman Movie. Adam West is shown wearing RED tights which is pretty groovy because that’s how he looked on some foreign movie posters. The next 2 are an homage to the famous 1966 LIFE Magazine Cover featuring Adam West. The 1st one is pretty straight-forward & looks just like the original, very cool. The 2nd one shows different color variations & looks very much like Pop Art done by Andy Warhol. If you would like to see more artwork by this guy, or just read his blog, then here’s a link, click HERE! Oh yeah, while there be sure to click on that button ( top, right-hand side ) that says, “Art Prints”.

Chuck Williams’ BATMAN BUST Retro-Style Statue

OK, I saw this on the web recently & had to totally show it off because Chuck is a friend & an amazing artist! Here is a small BUST STATUE of BATMAN done in a Retro -Vintage style. It’s made to look kind of like the old comic book art from the past. Plus, it’s modeled after the 1966 Adam West TV version of the character. Personally, I think this thing is incredibly well done & a Total Masterpiece! It’s shown here in 3 versions: Painted & two done in Raw Colors. The 2 colors are PALE GRAY, which makes it look like a fine art statue & brings out a lot of details. Then there is BLUE, which is sort of translucent a little bit & totally reminds me of those MARX TOY Action Figures made in the 1960’s. Actually all 3 are really great & if I had to pick a favorite one it would be way too hard to decide. But really, now that I think about it, the painted version is the winner!

RIP GENE COLAN , Great Comic Book Artist

I’m sad to report that Gene Colan has passed away. He was 84 years old. Most Comic Book Collectors & Fans will for sure know who this incredible Artist is because he worked in the business for many years. He co-created Blade ( The Marvel Comics character that became a Wesley Snipes movie ). His work on Howard The Duck & Daredevil is classic pop culture. I fondly remember his artwork from my childhood. He drew Batman comics & covers with great skill & I have always been a huge fan of his work. He will be missed. Thank you for your wonderful contributions Mr. Colan, RIP.

BATMAN AUCTION NEWS – Jerry Robinson’s Original Cover Art for DETECTIVE COMICS #67

In recent BATMAN AUCTION NEWS everybody is totally excited about a new piece of Original Golden Age Comic Book Art that has hit the market, it’s the Cover Art to DETECTIVE COMICS #67! HERITAGE AUCTIONS of Dallas, Texas is offering it on October 27th,2011. The sale ends around November 15th-17th, 2011. This masterpiece was drawn by Jerry Robinson back in the “Batman Golden Age” era. It’s also important to note that this cover was the very first appearance of a character named THE PENGUIN. It’s an extremely important piece of Bat-History & my guess is that it will set a record price. Also, if you click on the photo of the artwork up above you can see a very high-def pic with great details, check it out! ART – Chris Mason’s JOKER STEALING THE 1966 BATMOBILE Painting

OK, I know I’m on sort of a “Batman-inspired Art Kick” recently but we have been getting a ton of cool submissions from Bat-Blog Fans. Plus, I can’t help it that my readers are smart, creative, talented people ( ha! ). Here’s a great example of that creativity in action. This Pop Art Painting was done by our good friend Chris Mason. It shows “The Joker stealing the ’66 Batmobile”. You know the car, it’s the George Barris Custom, otherwise known as the 1966 TV Show version, a total fan favorite! It’s done in that famous Ed “Big Daddy” Roth style that was originated in the Hot Rod Culture of the 1960’s. Just think about those old vintage “Weird-O’s” toys & model kits. Then you’ll know what I’m sayin’! But regardless, the artwork here is just totally great! Actually, I mean to say… completely beautiful! The pictures shown here sort of explain their selves but basically you have a close-up detail shot ( the 1st pic ), a nice picture showing the work in progress, then some photographic proof of Chris actually doing the painting ( in case you don’t believe us, ha ha! ), & finally the completed work. Now the last graphic, showing the final artwork, it’s BIG enough ( if you click on it ) to be made into a Wallpaper Background for your PC. Yes, that’s a bonus! Not only do you get some beautiful eye-candy to look at but you also receive a souvenir of the special moment. Yeah, the Bat-Blog is pretty awesome, I know ( just kidding ). Actually if you’d like to see more of Chris’ work you can visit his Facebook page by clicking HERE! The only problem is I think you have to be a member to sign-in to see it but it’s all worth it. Plus, if you’re a member ( or become a member ) you should join the Bat-Blog while you’re there, our link is the button down below. Please join us!

Brand-New MICHAEL KEATON BATMAN STATUE ( 1989 Movie )

Oh yeah, if you’re a serious Batman Fan then you’re gonna totally love this new statue coming out! It’s inspired by the 1989 Tim Burton BATMAN movie. I know I really loved that film, it’s a Classic. DC Direct will be coming out with this special art statue as a part of their “DC Comics 75th Anniversary” event. It shows Michael Keaton, as the Caped Crusader, in a full-body pose. I say that because they’re also releasing a small BUST figure too. That piece was featured here at the Bat-Blog awhile back, to see it just click HERE! Anyways, this newer statue is AWESOME!! It was sculpted by Joseph Menna & measures about 13 1/2″ tall, a pretty good size! It comes with a special base that’s in the shape of the Bat-Symbol. Basically it’s hand-painted, cold-cast in porcelain, & will be a Limited Edition. I really love this thing. If you would like to pre-order it ( as a gift for me or yourself, ha ha ), & save 20% off, then I suggest the following link:

Photo – David’s Vintage 1970’s Batman T-Shirt!

Here at the Bat-Blog we love to get Vintage Family Photos from readers that show actual Vintage Batman Products. I mean, it’s really neat to see these special moments of bat-history. This photo was sent in by our friend David. It’s from the early to mid 70’s & shows him wearing a great Batman T-Shirt! Looking in my bat-files, I was able to find the original art of this shirt’s graphics ( shown in the upper right-hand corner ). Thanks to David for allowing us to post this wonderful pic, it’s really cool!!

They look amazing!! The 1st issue is set to go on sale July 7th, 2010 so look for it then. In the mean time, click on these pics to make them larger & enjoy some beautiful artwork!

New BATMAN THE RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE # 4 Comic Book Cover

Just a quick post to share the beautiful artwork of Cameron Stewart for the variant cover to BATMAN: THE RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE #4. Cue music, “I wanna be a Cowboy, Baby!” ( You know, the song by Kid Rock, ha ha! )

THE JOKER – Custom Truck Paint Job

Here’s a random photo I found on the Internet where the main function of the pic was to dramatize the use of car wax! In fact, this photo was taken right after a fresh coat of NXT Tech Wax was applied. Yeah, the photo was about selling Meguiar’s Auto Wax products, ha! But for us Batman Fans this pic is all about THE JOKER!! Oh man, this paint job is just completely amazing! Of course the Joker’s face looks great, but I really love the “black toxic smoke” effect too.

BATMAN ARKHAM CITY Life-Size Statue by Studio Oxmox

We recently did a post here at the BAT-BLOG.COM where we reported about the BATMAN ARKHAM CITY Video Game Launching Event in NYC. It was held at Toys-R-Us & had a few surprises. One of them was an extremely cool Life-Size Statue they had of Batman. It was very detailed & sort of hyper-realistic looking. Plus, it looked EXACTLY like the character in the Video Game, very very cool! Well later on, at Facebook, we were talking about it a little bit & a friend said he knew who made it.

The statue was created for the event by a company called STUDIO OXMOX. I researched their website & they make a HUGE amount of movie promo items & statues. Their work is really great! If I ever win the Lottery, I will probably call them up & buy everything they make( of course, right after I call the guy who makes 1966 Batmobile Replica Cars, ha ha! ). Here’s a LINK to view their beautiful Comic/Movie Art, just click HERE!

BATMAN AND ROBIN – Huge Graffiti Art Wall Mural Celebrates 70 Years Together!

OK, I’m not exactly sure where this BATMAN AND ROBIN Wall Mural is, I’m thinking maybe Argentina, but it’s AWESOME! It looks like it was done on the side of an Old Barn & it’s HUGE! It sort of makes a statement about how “Batman and Robin” have been Crime-Fighting Partners, for over 70 years! Ha Ha Ha! I love this thing! Have you seen any cool Graffiti Art celebrating the Dark Knight? If so, please send us some pics & also let us know where you saw it.

BATMAN Golden Age Artist SHELDON MOLDOFF Dead at 91

I have some very sad news to share this morning. The Golden Age Comic Book Artist Sheldon Moldoff died last Wednesday, he was 91. In 1940 he created Hawkman for DC Comics and became a major Cover Artist for many very iconic comic books. His work was always amazing! In the 1950’s he became Bob Kane’s “Ghost Artist” ( with Kane, of course, taking all the credit ). He drew “Batman” from 1953 to 1967. He was responsible for creating many very iconic characters like Bat-Mite, Ace The Bat-Hound, Batwoman, and the Original Bat-Girl ( Betty Kane ). He also co-created Clayface, Poison Ivy, Dr. Achilles Milo, and Mr. Freeze.

To say that he was extremely important in “Bat-History” is no exaggeration. During his life he became a Cult Hero among Cartoonists, Animators, & other Comic Book Artists. In later life he was seen at a lot of Comic Book Conventions where he loved to meet his Fans. The artwork shown here are some of the Comicon Sketches he did. He will be missed & his contributions to both BATMAN and the Comic Book Industry are unlimited. I’m personally very sad about his passing and wish to extent my deepest condolences to his Friends and Family, “Shelly” will be missed, deeply. R.I.P. Sheldon “Shelly” Moldoff.

Robert’s Amazing BATMAN TRIBUTE WALL MURAL – Art Painting

Please scan your eyeballs across this amazing artwork! Awhile back I got a message from a Bat-Blog Fan who said he was painting a BATMAN TRIBUTE mural on his wall. I asked him to send some completed photos when he was finished, this is what I got! WOW! Robert, you did an incredible job on this… It looks great!! OK, now you can NEVER ever move. OK, I guess you could, but you would have to figure out how to remove that wall & take it with you, ha!

I instantly recognized the art that was used. It was the cover to Detective Comics #627, which was the 600th appearance of the Dark Knight in that title. So, DC Comics did a special “Anniversary” cover. I’ve shown it here as an example & you can see what a great job Robert did on this. ( Thanks for sharing your pics Rob! ). OK, if any other Bat-Blog Readers do anything creative, anything, then please send us some pics too.

Michael’s Bad Ass BATMAN TATTOO ART Photo!

Dang, can I use the word “Bad Ass” on my site? I’m not sure, but that word does explain this photo pretty well, ha! Here’s a picture sent in by a BAT-BLOG Fan named Michael. He said, “It took a while to find an Artist that was trust worthy to tattoo the great Batman but I finally found one in Colorado Springs at a place called Glory Badges.” The Bat-Tat shown here is pretty BIG, like full-length arm! I recognize the image and it’s one that I have always liked, good choice Michael. Also, thanks for sharing your cool pic. Hey, if any other readers of this site get some ink done then please be sure to share.

Batman Fan Meets The Comic Book Legend – NEAL ADAMS!

OK, If you’re a BATMAN Fan and you don’t know who Neal Adams is, then just please STOP reading my blog! I’m being serious, this guy is a Legend in the Comic Book industry, especially when it involves the Dark Knight. Come on, Neal Adams is an ICON!
So, we were both very happy and seriously jealous ( JEALOUS! ) to see this wonderful photo of a friend of ours who sent us this photo the other day. This is Frank and he recently got to meet Mr. Adams at a Comic Con. Actually, Frank had commissioned him to do a Batman Sketch, you can see it in the pic and it looks really great! He also said that Mr. Adams was extremely friendly and very gracious. We have heard that before many times so that’s cool.
Hey Frank, thanks for sharing your fun pic and I want that artwork for ME! I mean, it would look so much prettier on MY wall!
