There’s a brand new deviant artist who opened her account with a very unique looking Rikku Cosplay!
I don’t know much about Vanne, but her first cosplay entry is really nice! I thought I’ll give her a helping hand on getting some traffic…
Apparently, this is the Lady Luck / Gambler version of Rikku. It’s a nice change from all the Rikku cosplayers I’ve been seeing so far… I’m guessing that’s her real hair, but I can’t be really sure. Final Fantasy X: Yuna 06
Nomura Tetsuya designed Yuna with hibiscus flowers as her name depicts. Her name also means “night” so her weapons are empowered by the moon. Yuna also has heterochromia, which explains her different colored eyes; her blue eye comes from her half-Spiran bloodline and her green eye comes from her half-Al Bhed bloodline.
Beautiful cosplay! Good location too. I wonder if she had a hard time keeping her hair fixed? Thanks for sharing this!

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Gives Franchise Fresh Start
It’s one of the great apologies in gaming. After the horrendously made “Final Fantasy XIV” nearly crushed the credibility of the entire series, Square Enix cleaned house and hired a new team to create “A Realm Reborn,” a mass multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). When the original “Final Fantasy XIV” launched in 2010, it met a sea of negative reviews, with fans citing bugs, structural and polishing issues, and claims that the seemingly unfinished game was downright unplayable. It received a 49/100 on Metacritic.com, the lowest of the franchise.
“A Realm Reborn,” on the other hand, is the pleasant do-over the Final Fantasy faithful was waiting for. It’s clean, stable and an overall better gaming experience compared to its unfortunate predecessor.
Graphics and Animation
To give “A Realm Reborn” more fluidity, the graphics are toned down from the 2010 release, but the sacrifice gives gamers a richer experience with a version that plays well on mid-level PC’s and the Playstation 3. What’s left is a visual compared to other popular MMORPG’s like “World of Warcraft” and “League of Legends,” and the vivid palette of colors and clever open-world designs give players the mesmerizing gameplay they expect from the “Final Fantasy” franchise.
The animations in both open-world and dungeon fights have colorful variety and smoothness that matches the graphical themes of Eorzia, the world where “A Realm Reborn” takes place. The lower-quality graphics are more noticeable during up-close engagements with NPCs and other users, but not enough to spoil the experience.
Gameplay
The original “Final Fantasy XIV” brought a new twist to the class system – when the player equips a new weapon, the class associated with the weapon changes the class of the character. It’s an intuitive change to the permanent class system seen in most RPGs but the game didn’t include any shortcuts to quickly switch weapons classes on the go. “Realm Reborn” lets you tab between multiple gear sets to avoid dropping individual pieces into their respective slots.
At first, the traditional MMO combat seems like a let down, given what games like TERA have accomplished, but “Realm Reborn” relies heavily on group cooperation and lots of movement during intense raids. The progression of difficulty from early to late game is smooth and consistent to avoid frustration but also keep a steady pace of challenges.
Companion Apps
Sorry Vita and tablet users, “Realm Reborn” didn’t integrate any native support for companion or mobile gaming. Companion apps are a growing demand in gaming, but one that will have to wait in the Final Fantasy series. If you’re desperate to use your wireless Internet for tablets in a Starbucks so you can play Final Fantasy over a latte, there are workarounds. The user in the YouTube below video streams “Final Fantasy XIV” from his PC to his Playstation Vita. It takes some tinkering, yes, but it can be done.
Final Verdict
Square Enix did right by their fans with this sort-of sequel/sort-of remake, “A Realm Reborn.” It’s a better game in every sense – gameplay, story, structure, stability, and even graphics despite the simpler interface. It looks like Square’s dedicating servers and support to this one for the long haul which is great for the fans. The game came out in late August and you should buy it if you’re ready to give Final Fantasy another chance.
Final Fantasy X: Rikku
Technically, this is the 5th Rikku I’m posting on this blog. But I didn’t label the post that way because she is the first Rikku I found who cosplayed the X version rather than the more popular X-2 versions.
Rikku is perky and optimistic. She has a close friendship with Tidus, as they are quite similar in their personalities. Since she is an Al Bhed, she suffered discrimination from the Yevonites, but this didn’t change her positive outlook in life. She did whatever she could do to save Yuna from giving her life with the Final Summoning.
I think I like this costume of Rikku’s more than the X-2 ones… I’m not entirely sure why that it. But I think a lot of people will disagree with me on this.

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children: Yuffie Kisaragi
The skilled kleptomaniac of a ninja, Yuffie Kisaragi is a self proclaimed “Materia Hunter” who joins parties in order to steal their Materia, small spheres of crystallized spiritual energy. She steals with the intentions of restoring her country, Wutai, to its former glory.
Isn’t she a cute little thief? Looks like she really can’t get her hands of the Materia, since she’s holding one in the photograph. Nice cosplay!

Final Fantasy X-2: LeBlanc
Well, I’ll be.
I believe several people speculated this to be someone from Final Fantasy, though I’ve never really gotten her character name. From what I know about this image (aside from it sitting in my old hard drive for a while now), it was taken from PC Online and she’s a character from an MMO game.
Other than that, the background of the photo looks the same as Aerith Gainsborough’s from Final Fantasy VII. Taken at the same time in the same venue maybe?

Final Fantasy X-2: Yuna 03
The kind-hearted summoner changes for after the events in Final Fantasy X. Yuna still puts others’ needs before her own, but she becomes more open and direct, looking up to Rikku as a sort of role-model. She even picked up Rikku’s expressions such as “disasteriffic” and “oh, poopie!”; something the younger Yuna wouldn’t have dreamed of saying.
Yuna still seems to be one of the cosplayers’ favorite character to cosplay even though the game’s already somewhat old. I love seeing different versions of Yuna from different parts of the world.
I’m not sure if Koffel is the cosplayer or the photographer of this image since I found it in a random website, but if anyone would like to point me in the right direction where this is originally from, please do let me know!

Final Fantasy X-2: Yuna 07
Yuna’s Songstress dressphere that she wore during the concert in Spira is actually made up of Lenne’s memories. This resulted in a sphere screen projecting the both of them singing to everyone in attendance. It was also due to these memories that Shuyin had mistaken Yuna for Lenne and that Yuna thought she had feelings for Shuyin.
She’s so cute! And I love this dress on Yuna, more than her original X-2 attire. Thanks again to Hannah for the photo!

A 1st-class SOLDIER who rebelled against Shinra, Genesis Rhapsodos went AWOL hoping to find a cure for his illness, degradation. He is an end result of Project G, an experiment involving a woman named Gillian was injected with Jenova cells before her cells were harvested and injected into Genesis when he was still a fetus. Genesis is considered a traitor to Shinra, but he is a close friend of Angeal Hewly’s as well as Sephiroth’s.
Although the contrast is pretty high on this photo, I liked the sinister effect that it gives to the cosplayer. Thanks again to Julia for sending this in!
